Compare iCarsoft single-brand and multi-brand diagnostic tools and find the right scanner for your vehicle and diagnostic needs.

iCarsoft offers diagnostic tools ranging from dedicated scanners for one vehicle brand to advanced multi-brand devices with service functions, active tests and ECU coding. Use this guide to understand the differences and choose the right model.

Which iCarsoft Scanner Should You Choose?

Start with how many vehicle brands you need to diagnose and how advanced the diagnostic functions need to be.

Compare iCarsoft Multi-Brand Scanners

The main difference between iCarsoft multi-brand models is not simply vehicle coverage. Active tests, service functions, ECU coding and hardware format change significantly between the product families.

Vehicle compatibility matters

Vehicle coverage does not mean every diagnostic, coding or service function is available on every supported vehicle. Function availability depends on the vehicle make, model, production year and ECU configuration.

iCarsoft Single-Brand Scanners – V1.0 vs V2.0 vs V3.0

If you mainly work with one vehicle manufacturer, a single-brand iCarsoft can be a simpler and more cost-effective choice than a multi-brand tool. The main difference between V1.0, V2.0 and V3.0 is the level of service and diagnostic functionality.

Feature V1.0 V2.0 V3.0
Full-system diagnostics Yes Yes Yes
Fault codes & live data Yes Yes Yes
Service functions Basic set Expanded set Expanded set

What Do iCarsoft Diagnostic Functions Mean?

Full-system diagnostics, service functions, active tests and ECU coding are different capabilities. Understanding the difference makes it much easier to choose the right scanner.

Full-System Diagnostics

Reads supported control modules beyond the engine ECU, such as ABS, airbags, transmission and body systems. Functions typically include reading and clearing fault codes and viewing live data.

Service Functions

Performs supported maintenance procedures such as oil reset, electronic parking brake service, DPF regeneration, battery registration, ABS bleeding and other resets or relearns.

Bi-Directional Active Tests

Allows the scanner to command supported vehicle components during diagnosis, for example activating a pump, motor, valve or other actuator to check whether it responds.

ECU Coding

Allows supported control-unit coding and configuration functions. Coding coverage is vehicle-dependent and does not mean unrestricted programming of every ECU.

Do not choose only by the number of functions

A scanner may advertise dozens of service functions, but the important question is whether the exact function you need is supported on your vehicle. Check compatibility before purchasing for a specific advanced function.
